Add a smattering of cod reggae and record it all with 'authentic' 60s recording techniques. End result? A dreary copy of the real thing.
Most of the LP is riddled with repetitive, lacklustre melodies and predictable, cliched lyrics about "Lurv." Only two songs stay clear of the dross, the inventive, subliminal Believe, which sounds as if was recorded in some kind of underwater echo chamber, and Sister, where Len really connects emotionally. Still, the LP will sell by bucketloads. The Question is though, if you can fall for chains of silver, why not go for gold?
